Jason Potts - Curious Conversations
I went to Las Vegas this past weekend, and the Chief of Las Vegas' Public Safety, Jason Potts. Chief Potts shared a lot with me about the city's unique challenges, and I discovered that he and I share a lot of the same virtues and vices.
Some fun things I took away from my discussion with him (these do not reflect the opinion of Chief Potts -- these are mine):
-- If you're a leader and get hired for big leadership roles, you should work to negotiate choosing your second in command to best help you.
-- We should be kinder toward our leaders; leadership is hard!
-- I like when people over-divulge, it's authentic.
-- I enjoy living a very rule-governed life, but some rules need to be broken.
Some hotels in Vegas have a very strict no camera policy. When my camera guy was about to take a picture of Chief Potts and I, hotel police told us we had to put our camera away or be escorted off the property. We moved to the street to take this picture. I figured the Las Vegas media would have fun with that -- Chief Potts and a talk show host escorted out of Caesars Entertainment for taking a picture together.
