New Mexico Heart Gallery
Marissa’s story is powerful. She aged-out of the foster youth program. Many people don't realize, but if foster youth are not adopted by the time they are 18, they age out of the system without supportive adult mentors to guide them to adulthood and most often are left alone on the holidays. The New Mexico Heart Gallery was started to serve as a parental role to those who don't have one.
There are many ways that we help the youth, but one that I'm really excited about this year is Heart Gallery's Secret Santa program -- aimed at helping our youth (those aged 16-21 are involved) who are in the process of transitioning to independent living. So many of them have never been asked what they want for Christmas, and this is an opportunity to get them what they want.
We are currently seeking Secret Santas to shop for the youth. You can also sponsor an item (or several)! We have 250 foster youth's wish-lists with their top 3 items. You can view these items in our online
Secret Santa shop.
Please consider being a Secret Santa this year. Think of giving not as a duty, but as a privilege.
