Stephen Manas

Whether you take risks or play it safe, find love early or later in life -- every choice you make is meaningful, and every experience holds meaning and significance. The key lies in finding resonance and positivity in the stories you encounter, drawing inspiration and wisdom from them without feeling compelled to emulate someone else.

- Stephen Manas

Stephen Manas has become one of my favorite friends (and role models). Full disclaimer -- I was watching Ted Lasso and thought "that French football player looks pretty cool!" I reached out to him and a friendship was formed. This actually happens for me quite a bit. Becoming friends with Bee Vang (Grand Torino) and Drew Seeley (High School Musical) are similar stories. It's neat how you can become friends with someone you admire if you simply have the courage to ask. You will be rejected by a lot of people (Mark Wahlberg isn't that cool anyway), but it is so worth it for the ones that work out.

When I started talking to Stephen he was finishing his book Pathless, and asked me to read it and give feedback and edits (many of which he used). This was such a privilege! Pathless is a great guide for anyone seeking to chart their own course. Whether it's learning to quiet self-doubt, embracing cultural differences, or trusting the journey even when the destination is unclear, his insights resonate deeply. This book is a reminder about how our purpose isn't dictated by societal norms but by what sets your soul on fire.

You can grab Pathless here. It's inspiring to see what grit one can have! And next time you watch Ted Lasso, keep an eye out for Stephen -- he plays Richard (#8). His character is a lover of wine. Maybe that's why we became such good friends.
